About us
Four summers ago(in 2005)I went on a short-term missions trip with Steiger Minneapolis (http://www.steiger.org) to The Rainbow Gathering (TRG) to care for hippies. Those of you who know me since then, know how much these people have touched my heart in a way I never imagined. Each summer since that first one, I have gone again.
Two summers ago while at TRG, a small group of us talked about the possibility of doing this same thing but on a year-round basis. They would be called the Mobile Jesus Kitchen (MJK). When I first heard about the MJK, I felt called to join but didn’t see how it would be possible and was greatly saddened. This fall while talking with a friend, the Lord showed me a vision of myself doing just that. I was so excited that I went home pulled out a notebook and started planning.
Since then I have been busy preparing to join the newly forming group. In seven short months, the Lord has provided for me over and over and over and over. I am overwhelmed by all He has done and provided. Now I am leaving “normal” society, moving into my RV, and traveling around the US to follow my vision.
As a part of the MJK, I will help with some of the following things in order to care for this group of people:
- cooking and serving food
- filtering drinking water
- repairing clothing and shoes
- talking and listening
- washing feet
- caring for wounds - physical, spiritual, emotional, etc.
- collecting firewood
- latrine maintenance
